Plasma 25-Hydroxyvitamin D3 and Bladder Cancer Risk According to Tumor Stage and FGFR3 Status: A Mechanism-Based Epidemiological Study - OncologySTAT

Researchers from Spain (where the incidences of bladder cancer and vitamin D deficiency are high) studied > 1100 patients and > 1000 controls and found increased risk of urothelial bladder cancer (UBC) in patients with lowest 25(OH)D3 levels, especially with low FGFR3 expression. Authors suggest that patients with a low level of 25(OH)D3 may be at risk for more aggressive forms of UBC.
